A salesman of a tiles company has approached the JJ Marg police after he was duped by an unknown man who promised to give him new notes of Rs10 along with changes. The unknown accused duped the complainant Saad Khalifa to the tune of Rs 30,000 in total.
According to the police, Khalifa while lodging his complaint alleged that earlier this week, while he was at his shop located in South Mumbai, the accused came over there and called upon his another colleague to place the deal.
"The accused arrived in a black coloured bike and was wearing a helmet and a raincoat. He ensured that while communicating, he does not take off either of them. The accused said that he shall give the owner of the shop change rupees along with new notes provided that old notes are given to him. The owner of the shop, handed over Rs 30,000 to Khalifa and asked him to get the change," said a police officer.
The accused and Khalifa reached a few miles on the bike and later, Khalifa was asked to give over the money to the accused and wait for him by the time he parks his bike and returns. Keeping faith on him, the money was given and Khalifa waited for the accused who then already fled from the spot on his bike.
"On being convinced about the cheating, Khalifa approached the police station and lodged the complaint. We have CCTV footage and a tough description of the accused. Further investigation of the case is underway," the officer added.
