Steps taken by SEC to ensure free & fair civic polls:

A new-look State Election Commission (SEC) website – www.mahasec.com where voters can login to trace their names in the voters list, link to their civic body website.

  •     SMS service 56677 to trace ones name in the Voters List. Type VOTER <space> Municipal Corporation Code <space> Voters Name and send it to 56677.
  •     During civic elections one Call Centre Number 9225320011 for all 10 Municipal Corporation’s from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  •     Special marking for voters with multiple entries in Voters List.
  •     Ban on use of animals in campaigning in cruel manner.
  •     Polling booths to have water, toilets and shade. Most booths on ground floor.
  •     Voters Awareness Drive to create awareness urging them not to fall prey to lure of cash and sops.
  •     Election expenditure maximum limit raised to Rs.5 lakh for candidates.
  •     Separate bank account to be opened and maintained by candidates.
  •     Committee headed by District Collector’s and Municipal Commissioner’s to keep a check on Paid News in Print and Electronic Media.
  •     Use of Marker Pens instead of indelible ink in bottles on Polling Day.
  •     Ramps for senior citizens and physically challenged voters at polling booths.
