Rhea Punjabi struggled with low self-esteem before recognising some fundamental truths

At 28, image and self-enhancement coach Rhea Punjabi is a certified Happiness Coach in association with the Berkeley Institute of Well-Being, California. She has studied image, style, wardrobe management and consulting from Image Consulting Business Institute, Mumbai. Among other things, she has also completed a Train the Trainer certification course from National Accreditation Board of Education and Training for which she was received an all-India, all-time rank three. Over the last two years, Rhea has trained more than 2,500 people, including corporate houses, as well as homemakers, as they create their journeys of transformation.

Rhea says, “While education is, undoubtedly, essential to help you get ahead in your career, not everything you need for professional and personal success is taught in textbooks. In fact, strong listening and interpersonal skills, empathy, self-discipline and creativity, can play a crucial role in helping you to realize your ambitions. Research indicates that 85 percent of professional success can be attributed to strong interpersonal skills, and only 15 percent to technical abilities. It is, therefore, increasingly important to invest in your own self.”

Rhea’s decision to pursue a career as a self-enhancement coach stems from her personal struggle with low self-esteem and the nagging feeling of ‘not being good enough’. Over several years, Rhea worked on restoring and rebuilding her faith in herself, with remarkable success —she went on to pursue a diploma in Business Systems and Information Management from NIIT and an MBA in Retail Management, and has worked with prominent organisations such as eBay India, Wipro Technologies and in various sales and marketing roles.

Beyond coaching, Rhea enjoys pursuing her own wanderlust and is an avid traveller—she enjoys exploring new cafes, restaurants and offbeat places within and outside India. She also enjoys reading inspirational articles and spending time with herself. She says, “Spend time with yourself. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we have forgotten who we really are. Nowhere on earth will you get such a peaceful and untroubled retreat.”
