Former Miss India Sarah Jane Dias recently released her first single. Rohit Pramar caught up with her to talk about her singing
Sarah Jane Dias is the latest Bollywood actress to become a singer. She recently released her first single titled Forgot to Be Me. She has co-written the song, the video for which is ready for its première on MTV Indies, and features Arunoday Singh, VJ Bani and Sapna Bhavnani. We caught up with Sarah to find out more.
Tell us about your single.
It was inspired by something that I went through last year — in that respect, it was very introspective. It basically addresses the issue of forgetting about being myself. The song highlights the fact that several people don’t get to be themselves in a relationship. They make a lot of compromises in order to try and make it work and, in the process, they forget to be honest.
Were you always passionate about music and more specifically, singing?
Yes, I’ve been passionate about singing all my life!
Did you train as a singer?
I was a little shy to join a music school, but I did train for three months. Also, Samantha Edwards is my personal trainer.
Apart from singing, what are your other hobbies?
Well, I do a lot of things, but I’m not sure if I can call them hobbies. I like to read, write and cook. I also like to travel.
Now that you are singing, are you open to singing your own songs in a film?
Yes, I would love that! It would actually be like a dream come true.
Tell us about your upcoming films.
I have two films coming up — Zubaan and Angry Indian Goddesses. But, I don’t know the release date yet, so I can’t tell you anything else.
