Sony launches three new gadgets and Philips introduces two more exciting products. Chandragupta Amritkar gives us the update on these electronic wonders which are exclusive and exciting at the same time

Sony’s new digital binoculars
Sony introduced world’s first digital binoculars with HD video recording, zoom, autofocus and SteadyShot. The DEV-5 and DEV-3 from Sony are the world’s first digital binoculars that also record Full HD video2 with stereo sound at the touch of a button. There’s also a 3D record mode that captures the scene as thrilling stereoscopic video footage to enjoy on your 3D BRAVIA TV Variable zoom on both models lets you scan a wide area at low magnification before zooming in seamlessly to pinpoint your subject, like a distant golf ball or birds in the field.

By turning on digital zoom at magnification settings over 10x, the DEV-5 boosts total magnification range from 0.9x up to 20x3. The DEV-3 pulls wildlife, sporting subjects and architectural details closer with a maximum magnification of 10x.

Electronic autofocus allows both binoculars to focus cleanly on subjects as close as 1cm away when recording in 2D (min. 80cm when recording in 3D). This gives the extra benefit of magnifying close-up subjects as well distant observations.

Philips ThinkLink
With an increased trend toward Fixed Mobile Convergence, the ThinkLink provides seamless integration of your mobile device and home phone via Bluetooth and DECT technologies.

When working from home, you have two options to make a phone call. Home phones allow comfortable calls with better sound quality, stronger reception and longer battery life, whereas mobile phones bring convenience by storing all of your business and personal contacts. With Philips ThinkLink you have the best of both worlds, as its Bluetooth and DECT connection allows you to make and receive landline and mobile phone calls from your home phone.

Philips ThinkLink can be connected up to two mobile phones via Bluetooth, while letting your mobiles charge via integrated mini USB cable or a standard USB port. In addition to 200 entries of the landline contact list, you can easily download up to 500 contacts from each mobile phone, with a set of 2 numbers for each record – total 2200 phone numbers. It is also possible to download your contacts via your PC. Handsfree mode, which can be activated on the ThinkLink handset or on its base, amplifies the voice of the caller and delivers clear and loud sound, meaning the call can be shared with other people in the room or simply giving the user the option to multitask. Long business discussions should not be a problem with up to 22 hours talk time battery power.

New Projector Brings 3D home cinema experience

Sony’s newest home projector, the VPL-VW95ES, delivers viewers an unsurpassed 3D home cinema experience. It offers superb picture quality with high dynamic contrast ratio (150,000:1) and a more real cinematic experience. The comfort of home cinema has also been greatly advanced with the availability of low fan noise, flexible picture calibration, and picture position memory which allows customers to set the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with just one button. Given the number of films now available on 3D Blu-ray, the VPL-VW95ES ensures viewers can get the same experience in their home as in their local cinema. The product is equipped with Sony’s Advanced Iris 3 technology which includes a contrast enhancer to maximise the dynamic contrast ratio when used with the iris, giving viewers a crisper and brighter final image. Motionflow technology also reduces motion blur and judder, giving viewers superb picture quality.

Philips Digital Radio

Philips is launched a wide range of new Digital Radio products, targeting dedicated radio lovers, including two Hi-Fi systems, one flat micro system, three portable radios, and one clock radio. Philips has two Digital Radio Hi-Fi systems for you in stylish aluminum design and with innovative sound technology inside.

They also have a dock to play and charge an iPod, iPhone and iPad, and can play music straight from an MP3 player and CD, should you prefer to listen to your own personal collection.

The mobile radio is ideal for soccer/cricket fans who want to listen to a game at home or on the move. Thanks to the Digital Radio technology the radio picks up a perfect reception, wherever the location. Philips digital clock radio is both Digital Radio and FM compatible. The dual alarm comes with preset stations which are easy to scroll through and means you can quickly change between stations without having to retune the stations each time. It comes with a crystal clear clock so it can be easily read in the night.

Sony speakers for smartphones

Sony has created a new and uniquely stylish way of filling a room with music from a smartphone, iPhone or iPod. Sony Circle Sound audio diffusion technology delivers 360 sound from a single, compact enclosure that looks and sounds fantastic. Unlike conventional speakers, 360 Circle Sound delivers perfectly balanced sound to every corner of the room. The SRS-BTV25 combines the groundbreaking 360 Circle Sound technology with Bluetooth wireless music streaming to provide a seamless connection to smartphones, including the iPhone, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices like the Walkman, iPod touch and iPad.
