With ganesh chaturthi less than fortnight away, home-owners and housing societies are gearing up to welcome the elephant-headed god. We spoke to a few to gauge the joy. Here go excerpts:

We love Ganeshotsav because it is our festival and we celebrate it with a lot of pomp and joy. It’s a time when we can ask Lord Ganesha for anything our heart desires and he is sure to grant our wishes. It’s a festival that brings together all our friends and relatives and people forget about their animosities for this brief period.

Ganeshotsav is a festival that brings everyone together. People in housing societies and even from the area come together to organise the numerous programmes and to perform the daily artis. It’s a festival that sets in motion the festive season and sets the mood for the other different festivals to follow.

I love this festival because during the festivities, lovely programmes are also organised for adults and children such as fancy dress and dance competitions, magic shows etc. It’s a fun-filled festival with lots of entertainment for people of all ages.

Lord Ganesha is also known as the Vighnaharta and during this festival we pray and hope that he keeps troubles away from our families and friends so that we are able to live happily and peacefully. During the festival, it is quite a joy to visit the many pandals around our area and offer our prayers and offerings to him.

Ganeshotsav is a festival where all Hindus unite and have fun. The orchestra with all the drums with typically Lavani music is a joy to listen to and I love dancing with the procession. We also help in the rituals by distributing prasad to the guests who come for darshan.
