Sunny Style

Thursday, April 14, 2016

The sun is shining, the temperature is soaring and we’re getting ready to shop — ’tis the season for sun dresses! In the first of a two-part series, Rhea Dhanbhoora helps you pick from some fabulous looks that skirt the knee

Pop of colour
A pretty pink dress that is appropriate for a casual office environment as well as a fun brunch date (Being Human, Rs 1,599) is best paired with these pretty pastel ballerinas (Chumbak, Rs 1,495) and a funky hand-painted shoulder bag (Hidesign, Rs 2,495 onwards). A stack of bangles will complete the look
(ASOS, Rs 398).

Beach babe
For a day out in the sun, you need a hat (Jabong, Rs 3,090)! Wear it over this pretty belted dress (, Rs 649) and sandals (INTOTO, Rs 1,899), and don’t forget to pack your sunscreen in this gorgeous coral zipper handbag (Max, Rs 1,499).

Playing with shades
For those who don’t want to match all their shades to the T and aren’t afraid to experiment, this halter (, Rs 13,887) goes very well with this mustard bag (Max, Rs 1,499) and lighter yellow wedges (American Swan, Rs 1,399).

Dress it up
Who said you couldn’t rock a summer dress to a dinner date? Pair this floral sundress (Pepe Jeans, Rs 2,499) with a dark clutch (Holii, Rs 1,695) and strappy wedges to add in a pop of colour (Woods, Rs 7,295).

Coming up roses
For a pretty, feminine look this summer, this is perfect! This printed dress (Chique, Rs 3,800 onwards) goes perfectly with this beaded hairband (Asos, Rs 530) and baby pink handbag (Max, Rs 1,499). Pair it with a pair of neutral sandals so that you don’t look like a blob of candy floss.

Red & yellow
Forget black and yellow, this month it’s all about brighter hues. Pair this dress (Van Heusen, Rs 2,995) with these red stilettos (American Swan, Rs 1,699) and this purse (Holii, Rs 3,595).

Blue beauty
Here’s how to match a printed summer look without going overboard. Pair dull gold wedges (American Swan, Rs 999) with this blue floral dress (Allen Solly, Rs 2,899) and add a vintage touch with this gorgeous floral sling clutch (Pratinava, Rs 2,500).

Sunny days
A bright, sunflower printed dress can steal all the attention (Life at Shoppers Stop, Rs 1,699), so make sure that your slippers are bright and cheery (Life at Shoppers Stop, Rs 999), but your handbag doesn’t clash (RS by Rocky Star at Shoppers Stop, Rs 3,099).

Pretty in print
When you have a gorgeous print like this to work with (, Rs 1,699), you don’t have to worry about accesorising your look. Add a pop of colour with a mustard tote (Da Milano, Rs 10,999) and pretty summer sandals (Pratinava, Rs 2,800).

Mix & match
If you’re feeling a little bold, pair a subtly coloured printed dress (Max, Rs 799) with a bright pair of wedges (, Rs 2,200) and this striped, vintage bag (Pratinava, Rs 9,500 ) for a mish-mash of patterns.
