Anindra Siqueira & Purva Indulkar speak to stylists to find out how to pull off a classy tuxedo look
You’ve been through the difficult task of picking the tux that you want for your special occasion. On Tuesday, we told you what you need to know about the cut, fit and fabric. Today, we’re telling you how to style it, which is almost as much work as choosing the right tux. Here are a few tips.
Nataasha Dalvie, Myntra LookGood Advisor, gives us a few tips on styling tuxedos for both men and women. She says, “For men — if it’s a strictly formal occasion, make sure to keep it classic and crisp. A special occasion such as a wedding warrants a silk shirt, pocket square and cuff-links since they are nice details to add. However, if it’s a semi-formal occasion, keep the blazer open, add a V-neck tee and swap your formal shoes for casual ones like plimsolls. For women — formal occasions call for sharp dressing. Wear a collared shirt, statement chains, simple ear studs and of course, stilettos. If it’s a party look, then swap your shirt with a pussy-bow top, long earrings and strappy heels. Semi-formal events call for tank tops, a bandana and white sneakers so that you give off an easy-breezy vibe.”
Designer Parul J Maurya has a few sensible styling tips of his own. He tells us, “Neckwear should always be of the same fabric as the lapel for a man’s tux. Team the tux with a pin-tucked, slim collar shirt and a short deep V-necked waistcoat. A contrasting pocket square is a must-have to complete the look. Butterfly-shaped or pointed bow ties and even skinny ties complement a tuxedo nicely.”
