LOVE ON THE MOVE

Thursday, August 04, 2016

No, we’re not talking about moving in together. But, if you’re wondering how to bring the spark back into your relationship, Jagruti Verma suggests travelling together

People usually travel to find themselves, but did you know that you can also help you find the spark that’s been missing in your relationship? Travelling with a partner can be fun, challenging and, if you’re a new couple, a good test of how easy it would be to live in the same space — even if it’s only for a few days. We’re sure that you’ve strengthened your bond with friends on fun trips around the world back in the day (remember those?) — and now it’s time to do the same with your partner! Here’s how to make travelling together work for your relationship.

Experience more than talk
It’s good to communicate with each other, but remember that instead of being holed up in a hotel room and talking about your potential future together, you need to explore the area and find new experiences. Little memories count for a lot later. From the native flower you plucked on your trek and the conversation you had as you watched the sun set by the river to the adrenaline rush from new adventures, it’s all going to add a little excitement back into your relationship.

Find love again
We know that sickly sweet young couples can be annoying, but let the infectious romance in the air come over you and let it remind you of how happy and in love you used to be at the beginning of your relationship — the honeymoon phase.

Think about the first time you held hands, what it was like when you revealed your feelings for each other. Holidays are perfect for new relationships and this is the best way to get a little nostalgic about your own. Of course, don’t use it as a way to lament about how it’s not the same anymore — that could lead to fights!

Get to know each other
Sure, you spent months asking each other questions at the beginning of your relationship. But, do you really know each other? You’ve probably stopped focusing on the little things that you like, and started to focus on the things about your partner that drive you crazy instead. Learn how to date again; try to guess each other’s new favourite things — you’ll quickly remember what drew you together, without the distractions of daily life getting in the way.

Every day commute counts!
Okay, so you don’t have the time to just take off on holiday together. Don’t worry! You can start with short weekend breaks (getting out of the city every weekend does you as much good as it will do your relationship) and if your offices are in and around the same area, try to commute together (especially since people in the city don’t spend every evening catching up). Even if it’s a longer route home, it will be worth it!

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)You may find it difficult to meet your target at work inviting censure of a senior. Rather than giving weak explanations it is better to admit that you had taken the issues for granted and that you will now expedite the matter and conclude to everyone’s satisfaction. Those in love will find their beloved drifting away, maybe that could be one of the distractions making you neglect work. It is better to concentrate of work and handle personal issues later.
