With over a dozen bridal stores popping up in the city, picking wedding attire is quite a task. So, how do you choose the best store for your needs? Pearl Mathias visits the new bridal studio by JADE to find out what sets them apart
As I made my way up Peninsula Business Park at Lower Parel (yes, that’s where the stunning new JADE studio is located), I immediately sensed the affluent aura this space possessed. I wasn’t mistaken when I walked through the corridor and was greeted in the posh waiting room; this did indeed seem like the go-to destination for those planning a grand occasion.
Designed by Monica Shah herself, the studio boasted of enthralling artefacts — a brass bathtub, wooden doors in the middle of the room and intricately designed mirror panels. As opulent as it may have looked, the space seemed comfortable. I was shown their designs — lehengas for various ceremonies, with beautiful work on them. I was told that the French Knots on their lehengas were created exclusively by the duo, and I could imagine the detailing standing out when a bride-to-be tried it on.
They also had Banarasi saris available, with just one of each piece made in order to maintain the exclusivity of the brand. So, those looking for a one-of-a-kind style will find just what they need here.
The studio, which is by appointment only, has well-trained fashion consultants to guide each bride on bespoke ensembles. Brides-to-be often arrive here in the daytime and are still browsing until late evening because their collection is so varied. You’re going to want it all too! Besides housing Jade’s statement bridal pieces, the new studio also showcases a limited edition range called Amoha — the new diffusion line by the designers — which is perfect for the bride’s family and friends.
JADE also offers customised Trousseau Packaging services, which include trousseau trunks, shoes, bags and silverware. Spread over 5,000 square feet, it’s truly an other-worldly experience, where a bride talks about her fantasies, has a whimsical moment with her bridesmaids and is treated to scrumptious treats as she shares her deepest desires of the perfect wedding. Even if you’re not yet a bride-to-be, step into JADE for a little eye-candy. You won’t regret it!
