Instead of putting on layers of clothes, sip on some delicious drinks that will also keep you warm from the inside, says Trisha Ghoroi
While the winters in Mumbai aren’t that harsh, this one seems like it might be. And, there’s nothing you can do but pile on layers of clothes. Or is there? How about sipping on some warm drinks? Skip the regular hot chocolate this season and savour something different. Here are a few alternatives and how to prepare them.
Hot vanilla milk: Mix 1½ tbsp of vanilla concentrate in 1 cup of milk with a teaspoon of sugar. This drink may sound ridiculously simple, but it tastes great.
Chai latte: All you need is a few spices like cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and any other spices of your choice. Brew a cup of tea with the spices and top it off with some wiped cream. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top. However, don’t forget to add in some ginger for that extra spice.
Rum punch: Made with fruit juices of your choice and white rum, the best part of this drink is lighting it on fire. And there’s nothing better than rum to warm you up on a chilly winter night.
Mulled cranberry apple cider: You’ll need cranberry juice, apple cider, oranges and some spices. Just dump them all in a pan and simmer the mixture for a warm delicious drink to keep you company as you get into your reading or perch yourself in front of the TV set.
The classic coffee: Always our favourite drink, be it cappuccino, latte or espresso, a cup full of the dark liquid will surely warm you up. The caffeine stimulates metabolism and makes your body burn fuel warming you up from the inside.
