Want to join the merchant navy. How should i go about it?

I am very interested in joining the Merchant Navy. I have just finished my grade 12. Please guide me on how I should go about it.
—Rohan

The direct route to the Merchant Navy would be either through the Marine Engineering degree course of four years or the three year BSc Nautical Science degree course after class 12 Science (PCM). Mental and physical fitness are important criteria for eligibility for this career. There is also the option of pursuing pre-sea training courses for different departments in merchant navy after Std. 12th to graduation. You can get further details and the list of institutions offering courses for merchant navy careers from the website of the Directorate General of Shipping (www.dgshipping.com)

The basic qualification required for an air hostess training programme is 10+2 (any stream). Physical fitness, a pleasing personality and a clear complexion with excellent communication skills are also essential. You can broaden your job aspects by learning foreign languages. I am interested in doing a course in wildlife photography. Are there any institutes that provide intensive courses in photography?
—Mohit

There is no specific course or formal training in wildlife photography.  Most of the wildlife photographers in India have learnt photography and then improvised and learnt the different patterns on their own or reading books or through internet and so on. You can learn your photographic skills by enrolling in week-end programs/ seminars on the said topic by the professionals in the field. There are a number of wildlife photographers who have shared their work as well as experiences on the net, You can take the help of such websites too. There are few institutions in India offer certificate/diploma courses in photography. Some of them are as given below: (List indicative)
Xavier’s Institute of Communications, Mumbai (www.xaviercomm.org)
Sir J. J. school of Applied Art, Mumbai (www.jjiaa.org)
Osmania University, Hyderabad (www.osmania.ac.in )
