I wish to work in the Food industry. Please guide me.
I would like to work in the Food industry but I do not know if there is a special institute giving knowledge about this field. Can you tell me if there is some school for undergraduate courses in Mumbai or Delhi?
—Avinash
Kindly understand that there are various entry routes to get into the Food industry, depending upon the kind of area one would like to work in – e.g. quality control, packaging, processing and cooking and so on. And each of them has different entry routes; for a career in quality control or food processing department Bachelors in Food Technology/ Chemistry/Biology/ Agriculture/Dairy Technology/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/Pharmacy would be preferred. Pursuing Masters in related fields would enhance your concept knowledge and employment prospects. There are institutes that offer all the above mentioned courses at Bachelor’s level in Mumbai and Delhi, but since the course you want to pursue is not specified, it would be difficult to answer.
I travelled extensively in South India when I was young and I have always loved being on stage. I fell in love with Kathakali and I would like to know if it is possible to enter a school of Kathakali as I would like to end up in a troupe. Is it hard to find a job later? What kind of jobs will I get in the same and what are the earnings?

Really glad to know that you would like to make your career in Performing Arts. You can pursue Bachelors of Fine Arts (Dance) with Kathakali as a specialisation from any recognised University or from private institutes that conduct Kathakali. There are no jobs per se in this field, you can become a dance exponent and can form your own group and participate in different dance competitions globally or else you can work as a choreographer or assistant in reality shows, events, or become a Classical dance teacher and so on. Kindly understand that Performing Arts is a highly creative field and calls for tremendous amount of dedication and is a very niche specialisation that is appreciated by a limited class of audience. Earning would depend on your talent, but you will have to be patient about the same.
