I am in FYJC Science but I'm not interested in opting for engineering, as I am too scared. I want to know about Biotechnology. Does that have a good scope?
— Niranjan
You have the option of taking up either a BSc or a BE /BTech course or an integrated course after class XII. Biotechnology is an inter-disciplinary research oriented field. Hence studying only till Bachelors may not be a suitable option in the long-term. You need to study up to Masters level to survive the tough and ever-growing competition. Do not choose a field with fear or just because you may get a job. Choose it because you like the field as well as would like to work in the field for the years to come. A biotechnologist can work in various areas such as Biotech firms, R & D departments, Government organisations, Pharmaceutical companies, Agriculture, Industrial Research and so on.
