Want to Pursue Actuarial Science
I am a SYJC (commerce) student. I wish to pursue actuarial science through correspondence after the 12th. So what is better? Should I do BBI or should I do B.com side by side. I also want to get into the field of banking and insurance.
—Geeta Dubey
To pursue Actuarial Science as a professional course you will have to register with the Actuarial Society of India. Actuarial Science as a course requires the student to put in long hours of study. BBI would be a complimentary course however you need to do project work which is absent in the B Com course. If you have good time management skills as well as would like to focus only on the insurance sector you can opt for BBI. Also, kindly visit the following website to identify the eligibility criteria to qualify for Actuarial course- www.actuariesindia.org
I would like to work in the food industry but I do not know if there is a special institute giving knowledge about this field. Can you tell me if there is some school for undergraduate courses in Mumbai or Delhi?
—Sheetal Rao
Kindly understand that there are various entry routes to get into the food industry, depending upon the kind of area one would like to work in, like- quality control, packaging, processing, and cooking and so on. And each of them has different entry routes like for a career in quality control or food processing department Bachelors in Food Technology/Chemistry/ Biology/Agriculture/Dairy Technology/Microbiology/ Biotechnology/Pharmacy would be preferred. Pursuing Master’s in related fields would enhance your concept knowledge and employment prospects. There are institutes that offer all the above mentioned courses at Bachelor’s level in Mumbai and Delhi, but since the course you want to pursue is not specified, it would be difficult to answer.
I have completed my TYBSc in physics but I don’t want to do MSc. What could I do please suggest some career options
— Mahesh Khambe
After B.Sc. [Physics] following are the few specializations at the M.Sc. level: Astronomy & planetary science, astro-physics, atmospheric physics, nuclear physics, oceanography, plasma physics and so on. You can also explore non-science related fields like law, management, mass media, teaching and so on. While selecting a course kindly keep in mind whether the course will provide you an entry into your desired field of work and whether you have the right potential.
