Director: Tom McGrath
From the DreamWorks studio that gave you the ‘Shrek’ series, Bee movies, ‘Madagascar’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ comes ‘Megamind’, a villainous character that you have probably never seen before. Though the movie has its share of fun, action, adventure, lots of laughs and some of the best characters ever created, it falls short of the level of action compared to its predecessors. Secondly, it’s a close resemblance to ‘Despicable Me’ that had a package of villains running riot, seen in ‘Megamind’.
The story revolves around the blue-hued antihero of Metro city Megamind (voice of Will Ferrell) who tries to conquer Metro City in every possible way he can. Each attempt made by Megamind is a failure, thanks to the superhero Metro Man (voice of Brad Pitt). Megamind finally conquers Metro City but then finds that he can get whatever he wants without really working for it. He realizes that he is a supervillian without being a superhero. He goes on to create a superhero in the form of Titan, who he creates to be stronger, bigger than Metro Man. But things change when Titan starts playing pranks and becomes more of a supervillian than a superhero. Now Megamind has a big problem. He has to defeat his own diabolical creation, save the world from the evil Titan and become a self professed hero of his own making. The film has an interesting climax and surely you’d want to watch it again.
Megamind is solid entertainment, a lot of action and laughter. Watch the amazing flying sequences, the fights and the movements of the animated heroes zooming from one end to the other. It gives you a great movie experience of watching 2D cinema. Some shots give you the feeling that you are flying, it’s non-stop entertainment. You surely won’t be disappointed.
