While we should have reviewed this before the sequel, it was just beyond our control. But better late than never to get this family entertainer.
The darling minions are back with their leader Gru who takes charge of a new adventure. The film opens with the image of the pyramid being stolen away, a heist pulled off not by Gru but by Vector, Gru’s most serious competitor in villainy. If Vector can steal a pyramid, Gru can do better, by stealing the moon. Gru proudly announces this plan to his enthusiastic followers, his minions, the little yellow capsule sized creatures, some one-eyed and others with the usual two. They speak in gibberish with a bit of English too. To that end, Gru approaches Mr Perkins for a loan request for funding the proposed moon heist denied by the Bank of Evil. He needs to do something to get to the moon and back. To steal the moon, Gru must first swipe Vector's shrink-ray gun. But the task is not so easy in the heavily guarded estate of bespectacled Vector who has cameras all around his fortress. Mr. Perkins relies on Gru to get the gun.
Gru’s only passport to lay his hands on the shrink ray gun is through three cute little orphaned girls. Posing as a dentist he charms his way into adopting the three girls from the orphanage. They land up at Gru’s house and are forewarned on meddling with his gadgets.
In the beginning, Gru is coldhearted to the girls and refuses bedtime stories and good night kisses. His associate Dr Nefario is furious with the three children disrupting his work. A call to the orphanage and the girls are sent back. Home alone, Gru misses them. He promises to mend his ways and brings them back and in turn also devises a plan to get to the moon.
The DVD has over one hour of Bonus Material and also many interactive games for the kids.
