‘Rocky’ is back. Sylvester Stallone just cannot let an opportunity slip by especially when it is something very close to his heart, his ‘Rocky’ films. CREED is based on the fictional character Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers) from the Rocky films of the 80s who fought against Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), Not many know, but the character Apollo Creed was inspired by the real-life champion the late Muhammad Ali.

In the new flick which is clear cut take off from the past, our story concerns an African American, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the son of the deceased legendary boxer Apollo Creed, who hopes to make big the way his father did. We go back to Adonis Johnson’s childhood days spent in a correctional facility as he's reprimanded for fighting. Reprimanded for bad behaviour, he is kept in a separate cell and is visited by Mary Ann (Phylicia Rashad), a middle-aged, clearly well-off African-American woman who reminds him that she knew his father. The relation becomes clear much later that she is infact Apollo's widow, but this fact is kept away from Adonis who grows up in her motherly care.

The duo moves over to LA where Adonis receives a stable upbringing. Fast forward to a few years and Adonis has grown into a young man with a well paid job, but he isn’t happy. He wants to be a boxer. He leaves his job, manages to make a dent in the boxing ring and then heads to Philadelphia, where he seeks out his Dad’s former opponent Rocky (Stallone), who now runs a restaurant and living off his old age. Adonis hopes Balboa will train him to be a boxer, but the ageing legend isn’t interested, but changes his mind when he sees Adonis’s confidence and determination to bring back the memory of his father.

Stallone is on the other side of the ring and gives you some serious punches which bring back memories of his Rocky days.
