You might have read or heard about Auschwitz, the site of the largest mass murder the world has ever seen. This documentary shows key decisions being made by the Germans that turned Auschwitz in to the world’s biggest killing ground where reportedly over 1.1 million people were killed. This landmark, 6-part series by the BBC charts the evolution of the camp and the mentality of the perpetrators – The Germans, who transported Jews to the camp's gas chambers from all over German-occupied Europe.

As the German invasion in to Europe continued, more and more Jews were being rounded up and sent to the concentration camp in Poland. The question of what to do with them became a paramount importance to the German high command Rudolf Höss. The only solution was to kill them mercilessly, men, women and children.

This DVD depicts the horrors of the killings showing the conception of different killing methods, detailed eye witness accounts both by the Jew survivors and Nazis, and detailed computer animation to show you buildings / crematoriums that were destroyed by the Germans, when they realized that the war was over.
It also shows accounts by Jew survivors who made the most daring escapes from the camp. Rare photographs and black and white archive footage shows the camp in detail.

This film does a great job at investigating this intriguing, disgusting and important part of our history. It reveals the reason it happened, how it happened and why.  When you hear a survivor saying “it only took a half hour to gas to death a room full of people”, you can imagine the horror people went through. Jews were cramped into a room and told to take a shower. But what flowed from the pipes was Zyklon B, which would take a half hour to fill the room.

The period 1940 – 1945 will never be forgotten. In about 5 hours playing time, revisit the place where Hitler tried to get the Jews to disappear.
