Empathy and good wishes are pouring in from Bollywood for Sonali Bendre Behl after she announced on Instagram that she is down with high grade cancer. The actress, who last acted in the 2013 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara’ and has been a judge on the reality TV show ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’, is currently in New York seeking treatment for a cancer that’s metastised (spread to other parts of the body). Sonali, in her Instagram post, had said: “Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming…I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York…we remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I’m very grateful.” Actor Hrithik Roshan, in his post, tweeted a heart next to her announcement while director Farah Khan posted: “My beautiful and brave friend…saying a prayer for your health till you get back home”. Abhishek Bachchan, who’s a close friend of Sonali’s husband Goldie Behl, posted ‘Full power Bhabs (Bhabhi)” on his social media account. We cannot help noting here that it’s not been such a great year, health-wise, for the Bollywood fraternity so far. First there was Irrfan Khan, who was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrinal cancer. Then, acting legend Sridevi passed away suddenly. And now this. We wish Sonali a speedy and full recovery.
