Guess who’s in Switzerland having the time of his life that he surely deserves? Ranveer Singh has been holidaying for the past week in the Bernese Oberland and Lake Geneva region and been strutting his impersonation skills among Swiss locales on social media. He has dressed up like Charles Chaplin and Freddie Mercury, been hanging at the over 1,000-year old Chateau Chillon castle (to which poet Lord Byron dedicated his masterpiece ‘Prisoner of Chillon’) near Montreux and dog-sledding on the glaciers in the Lake Geneva region. Playing host to Ranveer is none other than Swiss Tourism (we hear that Ranveer has been an official Indian ambassador to Switzerland since 2016) which has even temporarily named a train after the popular Bollywood actor! According to Switzerland Tourism, the train of the MOB railway company on the Golden Pass line between Montreux on Lake Geneva and the upscale resort of Gstaad will carry the name ‘Ranveer Singh’ until the end of October. The actor was also present for the official naming ceremony on Monday in Zweissimen. The objective of all this, of course, is to attract more young Indians to visit Switzerland in the near future. Switzerland has, for decades, been a popular tourist spot with Indians thanks to Bollywood films which offered free publicity by featuring its lush landscapes in their films. But this trend has been waning recently and Switzerland Tourism wants to attract Indians among the younger generation who have not been exposed much to the exotic locales, cuisines and delights of the Alpine nation.
