Agripada police arrest 3 kidnappers, one absconding
Wanted by Govandi's Shivaji Nagar police station in connection with several cases of murder, half murder, violence and a host of other orchestrated crimes, gang leaders (of two different gangs) Saddam and Ganya (alias Ganesh) are currently lodged in South Mumbai's high security Arthur Road Jail. They have previously been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 302 (murder) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).
The duo have been accused of inciting violence against members of each others gangs and had an ugly fallout.
On the day of 'mulakat' (meeting), Ganya's wife Parveen and his trusted aide Arvind were outside the jail to meet him. It so happened that Saddam's gang members too happened to be present there at the same time to meet their boss.
The past history of animosity resurfaced as flames were fanned again when members of the rival factions encountered each other outside the jail, leading to an altercation and a confrontation.
Saddam's men held a grudge against Arvind – who handled legal affairs, arranging bail and overseeing other court-related work for Ganya – and this miffed the rival criminals no end.
Shiv Sena leader's car used for kidnapping
In a sequence that could come straight out of a Bollywood flick, the four men from Saddam's gang (separated post the heated argument) kept a close watch on Arvind. As he moved ahead, the four men abducted him and sped away in the car they had arrived in. He and a friend accompanying him were badly beaten up while being taken to Shivaji Nagar. After Arvind was mercilessly thrashed, he was left in an injured state, to fend for himself. This entire incident unfolded in front of Parveen's eyes, making her the prime witness.
However, in a startling revelation by the sleuths from Agripada Police Station, the car the men used for the kidnapping belongs to a leader from Shiv Sena's Vahtuk (transport) division, Wasim Sheikh. The car, a Pajero, which is registered in Chembur was brought to the police station after they managed to arrest the criminal members of the gang, some who are notorious and have been on the run for quite some time.
Parveen misleads cops, files child kidnapped false complaint
Parveen who witnessed Arvind's kidnapping also told the cops that her six-year-old child had also been kidnapped by the rival gang's members. The cops admit that they were left red-faced after they found out that she was lying and worse still, they even believed her and registered her complaint. So, as per FIR records two people were kidnapped, but in reality it was just Arvind. At the time of the incident the child was with Parveen's father-in-law.
Upon seeing Arvind's condition, some locals informed the Shivaji Nagar police, who arrived at the spot. The Agripada police too arrived there after Parveen described to them one of the abductors' physical appearance.
Agripada sleuths nab 3 accused, one on the run
Since the time of the incident all four accused were wanted. The abductors include Barkya (alias Rajesh Kamble), Sufiyan Qureshi, Altaf Chaudhry (alias Tipu) and Kalam.
According to police sources, Tipu and Sufiyan are 'wanted' since many years now, their escaping tactics make it difficult for the local police to arrest the pair, even as both have been 'tadipaar' (externed). Meanwhile, among the quartet, each of the accused has a minimum of half a dozen cases against them.
The police credit the idea of tracing CDR (Call Detail Records) to nab the accused and the FIR filed has charged the criminals under Sections 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) and 367 (Kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt) of the IPC.
The dedicated and crack team of Agripada police station spent several sleepless nights in order to nab the accused under the constant supervision, able leadership and guidance of Senior Police Inspector Savalaram Agawane and Police Inspector Shinde (crime); the detection staff Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Siddhesh Joshte, PSI's Vaibhav Gurav, Naik, Tushar Pawar, Balwant Kardore, Sachin Khanvilkar, Vikas Patil and Jhanjham, who can now finally breathe a sigh of relief.
