
Girl abandoned by unknown man in ice cream parlour rescued by cops
A seven-year-old girl was found abandoned in an ice cream parlour in Kharghar, but was rescued by the police before anything worse could happen. The girl was handed over to the police after the owners found out that she was brought in by some unknown person.
The Navi Mumbai police had launched a frantic search for the girl, who had gone missing from her home. According to the police the girl, who studies in the kindergarten in New Horizon Public School in New Panvel, had left from her house in Khanda colony and was on her way to her tuition classes. A 22-year-old man saw the girl and lured her to follow him on the pretext of buying her ice cream.
According to the statement given by the parlour staff Hari Ageeja, he took her to an ice cream parlour in sector seven, Kharghar, bought two ice cream cones of Rs. 35 each and sat there for nearly an hour. After sometime, he saw a police patrol pass by and fled from the spot.
Meanwhile, the family of the girl had already raised an alarm when they got a call from the tuition teacher saying that the girl did not come for the classes. They started searching for the girl, but failed to locate her and then lodged a missing complaint at the Kalamboli police station. The girl’s description and photographs were circulated to all e police stations and search parties were sent all over the place .
Meanwhile, the girl who w now started feeling lonely, began crying while eating her ice cream. The staff noticed this and approached her. She told them that she was brought there by some uncle and he had left her there. The staff took her to the Kharghar police station, where the officers identified her and took her to the Kalamboli police station immediately.
The scene over there had taken a turn for the worse as residents, along with the girl’s family, gheraoed the police station and were getting violent. Just when it seemed that the situation was getting out of hand, the Kharghar cops announced that the girl had been found, to the relief of one and all.
Confirming the incident, senior inspector Kiran Patil of Kharghar police station, said, “We rescued the girl and handed her over to the Kalamboli police where her family was waiting.“
The Kalamboli police have registered a complaint of kidnapping against the unidentified person and are now investigating the matter.
