Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President, Raj Thackeray slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Raj Purohit calling him ‘foolish’ and ‘ an outsider in the city’ for criticising Ankita Rane, a Thane resident, who exposed the ‘unhygienic’ pani puri incident last month. Thackeray said, “As his name is Purohit, of course, he will talk nonsense about panipuri. It is absolute foolishness and he is creating a issue for votes in the city.”
Raj Thackeray had come to meet Municipal Commissioner Subodh Kumar at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the issue of implementation rain water harvesting systems in buildings.
According to sources, Thackeray had also come to broach the issue of the ongoing construction by Matoshree builders who had reportedly floated environment norms during the construction of the 27-storey building.
After the meeting, while talking to reporters, Thackeray said, “It was a goodwill visit to the Commissioner, and we talked about the implementation of rain water harvesting in the city as the rainy season is approaching.”
When asked about the comment made by Raj Purohit criticising Anikita Rane’s exposure of the panipuri vendor, Thackeray said, “All he can speak about is panipuri. He (Purohit) is not worried about the local people, what they are forced to eat or any other issue. He is worried more about outsiders and not about locals.
