
The Central governments decision to bring in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail market is nothing but a poly to bail out recession hit US and European markets, alleged BJP MP and national spokesperson, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. Speaking to newspersons at state party office here, he slammed Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh for skipping the all party meeting and instead attending the Buniyaad conclave of the Youth Congress. Hussain dared the Congress led UPA government for an open debate on FDI issue.
The BJP national spokesperson argued that the argument of farmers benefiting was also given when MacDonald’s was allowed entry. Hussain said that the US food giant rejected Indian potatoes on the grounds of too much moisture content and being too small. He clarified that the BJP moved adjournment motion over the issue in parliament on the issue was meant for the house to stop deliberating other business and debate the FDI issue on priority.
Hussain charged the Congress of making the issue of prestige and its own MPs from Andhra Pradesh had stalled the proceedings over the Telangana statehood issue. Replying to queries over reports of BJP led NDA government approving FDI, he elucidated that the NDA regime had merely wanted the issue to be debated and added that the issue does not find mention in any of the NDA documents.
On the issue of bail out package for beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines, he said that while the UPA government mulled over the proposal, owner Dr Vijay Mallya had to explain that he did not ask for a bail out package. Hussain remarked that while the UPA was not interested in bailing out the common man from his inflation woes, the government wants to bail out the listed corporate companies. Replying to queries over phone tapping allegations, he said that the central intelligence agencies were more interested in tapping the phones of its arch-rivals than tapping phones of terrorists and naxals.
