A 45 year-old fashion designer was found dead at her Andheri residence during the wee hours of Thursday, inside the Cross Gate building. The deceased is identified as Sunita Singh and her body was recovered from the bathroom of her residence on Thursday early morning and was declared dead on arrival after being rushed to Kokilaben Ambani hospital.
According to the Oshiwara police, Singh who had recently shifted to her Lokhandwala residence was a well known fashion designer and had high profile connections in the industry. She was staying with her son Lakshya Singh (23) and his fiancee Ashpriya Banerjee (22) who are said to be frequent consumers of drugs and occasionally they used to take cannabis, hash and other similar intoxicants.
According to Oshiwara Police sources, late on Thursday night, Sunita was not feeling good as her health was down and was experiencing hallucinations. In the process of retiring to sleep, she went on saying many things but no one paid special attention to her.
At midnight around 3 am, the deceased woke up and went to the bathroom to answer nature's call. She partially locked the latch as she was sleepy and did not come out till morning. When Lakshya woke up, he thought his mother was inside the bathroom so he later came back and knocked on the door. He shouted and knocked many times and after many attempts, he broke the door and found the body lying on the floor. Lakshya, who was taken aback by shock, first went to a nearby temple followed by a visit to a known jeweller who suggested that he call for an ambulance. When rushed to hospital, she was declared dead, sources said.
On the basis of primary information Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been filed in the case, but no clean chit have been given to anyone. Her body has been sent for autopsy and after its report further action would be taken, even as further investigation is going on, sources added.
