30-yr-old arrested for raping minor girl in parked tempo
The credit for solving a case of kidnapping and rape of an 11-year-old girl goes solely to the Sakinaka police who caught 30-year-old accused within two days, despite not having any clue about his identity. The Sakinaka police has solved the blind case within 48 hours and arrested the tempo driver who raped the minor girl inside the parked vehicle in Jari-Mari, Sakinaka.
According to police sources, the girl was walking to her residence after playing Garba at around 9.00 pm. When she reached the tempo parked at an isolated spot at Jari Mari, the accused Siraj Menhadi Hasan Khan kidnapped her. He took her inside the parked tempo forcefully, raped and even sodomised her.
After the incident, the girl managed to reach her residence and narrated the entire incident to her family, who took her to the Sakinaka police and lodged a FIR against the unidentified person. Without wasting any time, the Sakinaka police swung into action and formed a special team to crack the case.
Looking the seriousness of the case, the top brass of the city police, including Mumbai Police Commissioner Subodh Kumar, kept a close watch over the case and ordered the Sakinaka police to crack it within a short period of time. It was an blind case and the victim was in a state of shock so she wasn't in a condition to reveal anything about the accused.
The Sakinaka police detained around 15-20 criminal from the same locality on the basis of suspicion and activated the informer network. All the suspects, among who Khan was also present, were interrogated thoroughly. While he refuted the allegations initially, he soon confessed to the crime. Police later revealed that he was a suspect from the very beginning and broke down after police interrogated him 'in their style'.
Khan resided in the same locality as the girl, along with his family including children. He was arrested yesterday and will be produced in court today.
Khan has been booked under IPC Sections 376 and 377 and relevant Sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offense (POCSO) Act. “We are investigating whether he has committed similar crimes earlier or has some criminal background,” said a police source.
The outstanding job was done under guidance of Senior Police Inspector (SPI) of Sakinaka police station Kishor Sawant, PI Sunil Mane, API Rauf Sheikh, PSI Kaashid, PSI Salunkhe, PSI Lokhande, PSI Patil and Police Constables Praksh Patil and Gaikwad.
