Bhushan’s century spoils Bandra Heroes unbeaten run

MUMBAI: Bhushan Shinde was at his aggressive best as Shivji Park Warriors spoiled the Bandra Heroes unbeaten run with a six-wicket win in their concluding tie in the Mitsui Shoji 5-Team Double leg-League here at Police Gymkhana ground, on Monday.

However, with seven wins and one defeat, Bandra Heroes still emerged at the top of the table.

Bhushan’s 50-ball 116 runs with 16 fours and six sixes saw them cruise to victory with six wickets hand. He together with Siddhant Adhatrao put on 115 runs for the fourth wicket before Bhushan was caught at long on while trying to clear the field. Siddhant remained not out with 37 as they chased down Bandra Heroes score of 213.

Last year’s finalists Mumbai Police City Riders ended the miserable run of Thane Marathas by inflicting upon them a six-wicket defeat. With yesterday’s loss Thane outfit finished at the bottam  seven defeats and were thus eliminated.

Batting first, Thane Marathas put on lacklustre show as they ended with 136 for five. In reply, the City Riders, thanks to opener Arman Shaikh’s fine unbeaten knock of 70 with nine fours and four sixes, were home with plenty to spare.

Brief Scores: Bandra Heroes 213/4 off 20 overs (Armaan Jaffer 52, Rehmani Sufiyan n.o. 78; Hridesh Pawar 2/38) lost to Shivaji Park Warriors 215/4 (Bhushan Shinde 116 (16x4, 6x6), Siddhant Adhatrao n.o. 37) by six wickets.

Thane Marathas 136/5 off 20 overs (Rohan Bhosale 22, Mukesh Gupta 31, Sachin Upadhyay n.o. 41;Amit Khan 2/22, Amit Kadam 2/21) lost to  Mumbai Police City Riders  140/4 in 15 overs (Arman Shaikh 70, Santosh Shinde 24; Jitendra Paliewal 2/37) by six wickets.

Star 11 wins local cricket tourney
Star 11 Team from Sambhaji Garden won the cricket tournament held in Ward 92 at Sambhaji Grounds Khotwadi, recently while Siddheshwar Team from Besant Street were the runners up. 16 Teams from the ward participated in the tournament which was organised by Hetal Vimal Gala with social worker Sanjay Doshi also present for the event.
