In 2004, a few people from the shipping industry decided to join their forces to improve their experiences and professionalism in project management and services, something different from all the other existing networks, where one could offer a strong reliable network, with trusted selected members, professional companies fully involved with this specific focus on projects for a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, Power, Water treatment, Mining, special handling and transportation activities such as for heavy-lift over-dimensional cargo, door-to-door delivery, etc.

The WPG which was formed in September 2004 with members from 10 countries, in a short span of 11 years has grown to a mammoth group of 150 offices in 75 countries with strength of 6430 professionals in project logistics field yielding a turnover of USD 1.5 billion with the flexibility of small to medium size logistics companies. The core excellence is in projects whose complexity requires specialized experience, tight schedule requirement and flexibility. Capt. Ramesh Gulati, Chairman & Managing Director, Crystal Shipping Co. Pvt. Ltd., - the exclusive member for India has been on the Board of Directors of World Project Group right from its inception. He had the privilege of hosting the 10th anniversary celebrations and 14th General Assembly of the World Project Group at Goa in February 2015.
To the General Assembly, Capt. Ramesh Gulati had the opportunity of show-casing Incredible India, with the special initiatives undertaken by the new government to eliminate bureaucracy, facilitating ease of doing business, comparing the economic scenario GDP of India v/s the world with a special focus on the growth dynamics of the Indian port sector.
