India’s 2nd Uniform Garment & Home Textile Manufacturers Fair 2018 is set to be held in Solapur from January 27th to 29th 2018. This is the brain child of Subhash Deshmukh, Textile Minister Maharashtra, which is hosted by Solapur Readymade Kapad Utpadak Sangh and organized in association with the Maharashtra State Government’s Textile Ministry, sponsored by Mafatlal Industries and supported by Bank of India. As many as 10000 retailers from across the country are expected to visit the fair, which is sponsored by Mafatlal Industries Limited, the market leader and largest producer of corporate uniforms, work wear and school uniform fabric and garments in India.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has personally sent out invitations to 198 Indian embassies across the globe and 164 embassies in India. To attract global buyers, special literature explaining the features of this Expo is also being dispatched to Indian embassies abroad and to foreign embassies in India to attract more global buyers.

More than 150 brands of international quality would be on show and a fashion show is also being organized by the various brands so that buyers can have a glance at existing and upcoming patterns and trends in the garments industry. The ultimate objective of the fair is to generate at least 2000 new units in Solapur by the year 2022, in the process making this city the uniform sourcing hub of India.

Solapur Readymade Kapad Utpadak Sangh has also taken the initiative to start a training centre for garment stitching where needy women are trained at no cost. Starting in July, 2017 the centre till date has trained over 300 women who have been given jobs in various garment factories. Seeing the potential of the Solapur garment industry, Mafatlal Industries started a uniform garment manufacturing unit there.

Solapur has all necessary amenities for this industry and the purpose of such international exhibition is to invite national and international garment manufacturers to invest in this region for garment industry. Solapur therefore has the potential to become the Uniform supplier for the whole country. This fair will highlight the capabilities of Solapur, which in turn would lead to the setting up of more garment factories and thus more jobs in both the skilled and unskilled areas will be created says Nilesh Shah Vice President of Solapur Readymade Kapad Utpadak Sangh.. Solapur has the potential to become the Uniform supplier for whole country, said, Amit Kumar Jain Joint Secretary Solapur Garment Manufacturers Association.
