Roadmap To India's Resurgence

By Dominic Rebello

This book, Blueprint for an Economic Miracle, is an important document for the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues, for bureaucrats and others in the Central and State governments who may be involved in policy making and execution. It also seeks to engage with MNCs and corporates, businessmen, entrepreneurs and, most importantly, India’s youth and its farmers.

The author is clearly saying: We have witnessed the constant planning of governments for over 70 years. We now need to get down to the basics. It is not about thinking big, it is about thinking right. It is not about being a great consumer or customer, it is about being a creator and manufacturer.

And one does not have to go to the moon and back to create and manufacture. The land is right here, much of it lying unused or partially used. Abundant reserves of ores, minerals and other natural resources are lying unmined all across the country. Vast manpower is unemployed and waiting to be called in.

If 70% of India exists in its villages, then that is where the action should be. Development in towns and cities will never make any significant difference to our economy unless parallel development is orchestrated consistently in rural India.

Most importantly, this book explains how one can go about it. The measures suggested seem revolutionary and radical. Will they work?

Well, compared to any other person, Pradeep Gupta and his organisation, Axis My India, may be in the best positon to answer that question. They have literally mapped the entire nation, down to its tiniest hamlets, during twenty years of extensive surveys and research activities.

This book is a must for everyone who believes in the need for economic resurgence. It should be with all the ministries, chambers of commerce, the various industry associations, IIMs and IITs, business schools, research institutes especially those involved in agriculture, socio-economics and engineering, and should be made part of the syllabus in colleges and schools.
