More than 500 business people will take part in Entreprenet 2012, a global convention for Christian entrepreneurs and professionals set for January 13 and 14, 2012, at the International Lalit Hotel in Mumbai. Organised by Dimensions and Kanara Entrepreneurs Global (KE Global), the meeting will provide Indian Christian entrepreneurs an opportunity to network and interact with their international counterparts for mutual growth and development.
Created in western India a little over five years ago, Dimensions brings together Christian entrepreneurs and professionals with a dream to create wealth for its members and the community by pooling and harnessing resources and nurturing each other’s growth in a spirit of transparency, commitment, excellence and trust.
Dimensions’ visions is shared by KE Global, a non-profit mutual benefit corporation of Christian entrepreneurs from Kanara, a predominantly Christian region in the state of Karnataka, with chapters in Bangalore and Mangalore, as well as in the Middle East and North America.
“The story of India is unfolding and is at a dramatic stage’” Dimensions president and founder Freddy Mendonca. “The conference will feature prominent speakers from India and abroad. Speakers apart, the presence of mentors and especially financers who bring diverse management skills to the table, will be a highlight of this conference. The focal areas to be addressed by an internationally esteemed panel of speakers will be HR, finance, business development, technology, as well as customer relations, customer satisfaction and success stories.”
What is more, “We will be pleasantly surprised, not too far into the future, to see how, through self-help and not charity, many enterprising members of the community will experience a quantum jump in their social and financial status. We hope to make the convention a matchmaking exercise.”
The keynote address, Mendonca said, “sums up the spirit of the conference: Emerging India – The Growth Story. With improving domestic and entrepreneurial environment and favourable investment climate, India is expected to expand over the next five years, even as developed economies face deceleration... says a survey. India will continue to grow and we must grow with India.”
For those who attend, benefits “could range from ideas to expand businesses to other territories, to those who want to sell their business, to those looking at buying new businesses, to those seeking opportunities for managing similar businesses, to create bigger entities, to those who are looking at raising money to grow their businesses.”
The Christian community, long regarded as being a minority who has contributed out of proportion to their size in this country, especially in the fields of education, health, social and other services, has always seen itself as a stranger to entrepreneurship and businessmen. There have been some astounding successes in the business arena from among them, but these have been too few to make a lasting impact upon prospects of other Christians.
“This is a time to change,” Freddy declares. “Christians must come out of their comfort zones and use their particular skills and abilities to succeed as businessmen. The time is right, the climate is right, the confidence will come. That is what Dimensions is about, getting successful Christian businessmen together and providing them with a platform that the rest of the community, and from there the rest of the country, can emulate and from which it can benefit.”
