The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in association with the American Consulate General in Mumbai celebrated the 10th Indo-American Trade Excellence Awards (IATE) and the 238th American Independence Day last week in Mumbai.

Dilip Walse-Patil, Speaker of the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly, was the Chief Guest at the function, and Anil Deshmukh, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, Maharashtra State, the Guest of Honor. Koyal Rana, Femina Miss India World 2014, and Gail Da’Silva, Miss India 2014 2nd Runner Up, were also at the event and featured in the proceedings.

Through the Awards, the Chamber celebrated trade excellence and recognized the best Indian Companies in the US and the best US Companies in India in various categories.  22 awards were presented.  A distinguished Jury of Indians and Americans have selected the awards.  The awards included special individual awards for Indian and American Business Leaders of the Year and Woman Corporate Leaders, as well as Companies of the Year Awards.  The awards provided an impetus for both Indian and American companies to work towards growth in their businesses in both countries.

The 10th IATE awards 2014 is IACC's flagship event and serves as an excellent platform for business networking and an interaction with the who's who of the Indian and American business world. The awards program was intended to inspire companies in various sectors which are already doing outstanding work to raise the bar and contribute to enhanced economical and industrial growth. The IACC intends to set and pursue higher goals to bring the economy and trade between United States of America and India closer together.

Chief Guest Dilip Walse-Patil said “It is my very proud privilege to be associated with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and the American Consulate General in Mumbai in the celebration of the Indo-US Trade Excellence Awards and the celebration of American Independence Day.  I am at this function for the second year running.  During my presence last year, I was highly impressed by the transparency in the awards process and the manner in which the awards presentation function was organized and conducted.”

Patil added that “It is important to give encouragement to businessmen and businesses in both countries in order to raise the level of business growth. Tax sops provide encouragement; easier corporate laws provide that; one-stop windows do that.  Similarly, such awards provide encouragement because they set examples and models and further the competitive spirit”.

IACC works closely with the US Embassy and Consulate to expand the multi-faceted relations between India and US. In keeping with tradition, the US consulate had endorsed the program with several of the senior officials who were in attendance.
