A series of paintings on the subject of woman done by Vijay R. Chokakkar is on view at the Nehru Art Centre. The artist shows woman at work, woman waiting or dreaming or adjusting a shoelace. All the women appear to be quite serious. There is not even a hint of a smile on the face of any woman – even the one with a frock which ends above her knees and looks quite comfortably rich. None of them are sexy – they are not meant to be except that well-built woman toying with a rose. Perhaps the artist wants to show the unhappy side of a woman. The exhibition at the Nehru Centre will continue till May 28. Contact: +91 9421214328.
