In the series “Homely Moon”, Sachin Sagare has done paintings which depict the beauty of women – particularly that of village women. In a village in Sholapur district, almost every home had a Koroboi – a metal lamp. At night, women used to work under the light of the Koroboi – their own intimate, homely moon.
Koroboi is, for the women, perhaps a symbol of hope. Sagare has good control over the language and an excellent colour sense.
The exhibition by Sachin Sagare is at Jehangir Art Gallery. The solo show will continue there till April 3. Contact: 8097727431.
