An exhibition of Yadnyesh’s paintings on the music theme is on at the Jehangir Art Gallery. In the paintings, prominently seen is not the face of the musician, but a musical instrument like flute or violin. He tries to show the sound and mystery of music – the waves that are created by music. And he uses bright colours to show them all – contrasting colours. For instance, red and yellow.
Yadnyesh Shirwadkar says music is fundamentally organized company of singers or an act of articulating of the lowest pitch or range pertaining to the highest part in harmonized music. It is in the same way his work is a variation and gradation in the volume of musical sound.
His works are acrylic on canvas. He applies layers and layers of colours in a transparent manner – where every colour is seen independently. But at the end, they sum up to give a different symphony.
Shirwadkar, after finishing his studies in Baroda, completed his masters in painting from art college of Fine Arts, New South Wales, Sydney.
The exhibition at Jehangir will continue till May 1. Contact: 9820144640.
