Pinky Bhat who held her first exhibition in ahmedabad has made rapid progress. A figurative artist, her subjects are always women. She seeks to establish the beauty of tribal folks – show their joy, their creative ways of living. She was in Australia for three years when she painted the aborigines – people who lived there before the savage whiteman came there.
Clearly she is good at visualization and imaginative assembling of images. She does this expertly – with due attention to aesthetics.
In Mumbai, she created a sensation when she created a collage painting – 135 long. With this painting, she entered the Limca record book. In this work, she showed women of different classes engaged in various types of work, women in varied and many avatars. The record making collage was titled ‘Stree Shakti’.
Pinky Bhatt has earned recognition both in India and abroad. She is the third-prize winner of Asian Inspiration Award – in Rome. She is an artist with high-calibre skills, creative sensitivity and language control.
