Paintings and sculpture by H.R. Das

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

The bull in H.R. Das paintings is not ferocious. There is no sign of power. The bull is transformed into a tame and innocent creature. The face of the bull makes one think along these lines. There is child-like quality – a feminine touch. Against a background of bright colour, he places the bull. And whenever he chooses, he paints the bull in red and black colours – always with a white head. The artists’ sculpture shows a bull as a powerful creature.
H.R. Das show will continue till May 1 at the Jehangir Art Gallery.
