Bangalore-based artist C. Chandrashekara picked up images, experiences and ideas as he went through life and they all took shape in his creative endeavours. He has a social perspective and a philosophical outlook. Everyone has his own interests, tastes and expectations and different capacity for appreciation and understanding. A stone, for instance, is just a stone for most people but for an artist, it is a precious material and beautiful sculpture. All the happenings in the world produce different kinds of impact on artists, poets and philosophers.
Chandrashekara says: “We want change and the change should be healthy in our multi-cultural society. My art has an aesthetic vision.”
Chandrashekhara’s Buddha is just great beautiful and serene. But the artist does not make just the Buddha image. He surrounds the image with a radiant glow – suggesting enlightenment and divinity. Seen in the artist’s works are features like “Light”, “Stitch” (Bonding). In the art of Chandrashekar can be seen a blending of the modern and the traditional. There is perfection and abounding aesthetic values in his works.
The artist has huge mastery over engraving, Linocut, bromide and digital printing. His exhibition was at the Jehangir Art Gallery.
