Celebrations at Kalpana Shah’s Tao; 50 artists display their work
Wednesday, March 14, 2012

There is perhaps more space for display of paintings and sculpture in Tao Art Gallery than in any other gallery in the city. In just 12 years, the gallery which is in Worli has become a landmark in the world of art.
Now 50 top artists are showing their works at the Tao Art Gallery. The exhibition is being held in celebration of the 12th anniversary of the gallery. The gallery is owned and run by a woman who is also an artist.
Kalpana Shah was struck by a terrible personal tragedy but somehow she has survived it and keeps running the gallery with sustained enthusiasm.
“Synergy 2012” is the title of the show. Kalpana Shah: “One can say that everything in the world works because of Synergy. It is the most basic thing where the collective functioning of two or more factors is required in order to achieve a satisfactory result. If we observe there is synergy in nature, life and all action associated with these. Nothing in the world can stand for long without synergy – be it life or art… Life itself is a journey and especially in the field of creativity, one can feel the flow of energy. Galleries plan an important role in moulding and directing such energy by using their own identity and position. We continue to look forward to have many shows in the future…” The exhibition will go on till March 22.
