Avisankar is a protagonist of the Bengal School of Art. In 1989, he graduated from the government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. The artist sticks to traditions – particularly those set by the Bengal school. The emphasis on aesthetics. In his figurative works, we see faces with required expressions. The colours he uses are muted and this and the look on the face which indicates varied and many emotions and the mind too contribute to making Avisankar’s art reach high standards.
