Beautiful scenario
Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Ashok Dharmadhikari paints scenes of rural life and in oils and watercolour. He paints men and women at work, at small gatherings in villages. He has worked as an art teacher for quite some years. There is a certain simplicity in his works which have great appeal. The exhibition is rightly titled “impressions”.
His landscapes are not realistic. And the impressions are just beautiful. In one of the paintings there is a small hut with muted brown and yellow roof and walls. There are some trees behind which show only leaves. Banana tree? In the foreground, there are a few white cocks and outside the door a woman wearing a red saree and a child. The exhibition is at the Nehru Art Gallery which begins next week.
