Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Recent works of drawings and sculpture by Anand Prabhudesai are on view at Artists’ Centre. The exhibition which opened on Monday will go on till August 28. Anand Prabhudesai: “I strongly believe in the intrinsic power of line and space in each work and I try to decorate my work using them.”
The artist generate, sensuous images – like the transformation of milk bag into human libido. He has attempted to cover normally observed objects and create at forms. An example: artistic change of milk bags into cattle grazing and its return with udders. He has endeavoured to present the sculptural rendering of these bags in his own style with a view to retain the intrinsic feelings and effects in the work. He transforms images and gives them a new form. “Scissors and fruit”, ‘fish and fingers’, ‘boats and kites’ find dire place in his works. The artist acknowledges he is inspired by the veeran artist of the past – Prabhakar Barwe.
