Abstracted works of Vijay Shinde are on view at the Tao Art Gallery. Shinde held a joint exhibition with M.F. Husain 12 years ago. He considers Husain his guru. And about art, he says: “Art is an endless journey. There are no short cuts. I have blind faith in art and do not expect anything in return. I follow it because I know of no other.”
There are no familiar images in Vijay Shinde’s paintings. In fact there are some nowhere forms. He brings out from his imagination lines and colours and composes a painting. It is evident he observes no fixed rules as he sets about producing a composition. What are see in the paintings is all in his mind. He gives shape to his thoughts and ideas. The art language he uses is his own and the onlooker naturally is baffled as he struggles to make sense out of all those images constructed with lines, circles, and colour.
But one thing comes across quite clearly. Here is an artist who has skills, who has an evolved, sophisticated art language.
