Artist Ashok Rao is displaying his new concept of photo-genius art at the Artist Centre, Kala Ghoda. The artist says photo-genius art or painting can be described as painting’s tribute to abstract photography. Here an artist begins with an abstract photograph of his and then having got it transferred on to canvas, works on it with oil paint to achieve an entirely new creation.
Ashok Raj: “Besides the excitement and intrinsic appeal of the novel concept, what compels me to promote the photo-genius painting concept is its potentiality for encouraging unlimited creative opportunities for the art students and new artists as they are more open to the new ideas and experiments and this is where the concept as it can act as a ready base on which they can work on to create a beautiful and meaningful piece of art.
Each canvas starts as an abstract photograph from diverse sources and finally a remarkably range and variety is achieved.
The exhibition will be on till June 15 at Artists Centre.
