Even as blockbuster ‘Baahubali 2’ continues to unleash a tsunami of box-office records, the focus will now shift to Salman Khan’s spectacular period Sino-Indian war movie ‘Tubelight’ directed by Kabir Khan, whose much-awaited trailer was launched last night.
No prizes for guessing, Salman’s screen-character ‘Laxman’ is fondly nicknamed ‘Tubelight’ because of his slow mental reflexes and reactions. “Yakeen ek tubelight ke tarah hota hai, der se jalta hai. Lekin jab jalta hain, tab ‘full light’ kar detaa hai,” is Salman’s crisp dialogue from the movie-teaser which has already caught the fancy of a legion of his loyal fans.
Meanwhile, cine-trade pundits are surmising that if Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ minus any Chinese ethnic elements can rake in a box-office overseas business bonanza racing towards Rs 400 crore in China, the Chinese response for Salman’s movie, which has a stunning top-ranking Chinese heroine Zhu Zhu, may also prove highly encouraging. In the sentiment-laden movie, after his kid-brother goes missing during the Indo-Sino war, Salman does a self-introspection to realise that he is blessed with certain mystic powers as he begins his extensive hunt.
As a cherry on the top, Shah Rukh Khan who plays a striking cameo apparently as a ‘magician’, helps Salman’s character discover and tap his hidden talents in the film. Incidentally, this movie ‘Tubelight’ releasing during the Eid festivities is co-produced by Salman’s mother Salma Khan.
