‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Lagaa, Jaise….’ goes the iconic retro film song which extolled the ethereal beauty of Manisha Koirala’s character in ‘1942-A Love Story’. Despite having to go through the ordeal of cancer and its harsh medical treatment, ‘survivor’ Manisha still retains her ravishing natural charisma. As was evident at the event hosted by social crusader Priya (Sunil) Dutt on behalf o the Nargis Dutt foundation with eminent trichologist Dr. Apoorva Shah of Richfeel to boost their donation drive ‘My Hair for Cancer’.
Madame Koirala who was the ‘chief guest’ came up with inspiring lines. “Cancer is not a death sentence. One can conquer it with the right treatment, a strong will-power, one’s divine connect and constant family support,” she said.
Wouldn’t the ‘Ilu Ilu’ (‘Saudagar’) heroine be ‘reliving’ the terminal illness as she is playing legendary on-screen Nargis Dutt (who was also a cancer victim) in an upcoming biopic on Sanjay Dutt directed by Raju Hirani. “That’s true, I will be revisiting the distressing experience. For me playing Nargis-ji is a unique opportunity and a great honour. She is a legendary figure, and I hope I do justice to the challenging role. In fact, we just did a couple of successful ‘look-tests’ . But I have yet to start shooting. Actually I want to know more about Nargis-ji from her daughter Priya Dutt,” enthused Manisha who is ‘keen on hosting a health-care-centric TV chat show’. “I am also considering various other good movie offers,” she the actress added.
