Despite the scorching summer heat, a vast sea of frenzied humanity was seen surging and craning their necks, yesterday afternoon to catch a final glimpse of their adored and admired ‘motion-pictures’ mega-icon Sridevi lying ‘motionless’ in a glass coffin draped in national tricolor, as she was accorded full state honours.
Most of the Bollywood celebs who were in town made it a point to offer their personal tributes to the immortal ‘screen-goddess’ (that’s how she was called ‘devi’) and also condolences to bereaved husband Boney Kapoor, and their two grieving daughters Janhvi and Khushi. Senior members of the film fraternity expressed their moral concern for the ‘shocked’ heroine-in-the-making Janhvi Kapoor, as her doting star-mother would no longer be with her, when her debut movie ‘Dhadak’, would be released in July this year.
Cine-trade whispers floating around suggest that in all probability, producer Karan Johar may decide to ‘dedicate’ his movie ‘Dhadak’ to the fond memory of revered Sridevi, with a special title-card in the rolling credit titles. Meanwhile, there was also speculation, that Sridevi’s cameo appearance footage in a special party-song (it was the ‘aakhri baar’ she shot for a movie) in Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Zero’ directed by Anand L. Rai, would definitely be given its due recognition. Incidentally, this special song, which was shot in October last year, has Sridevi playing ‘herself’ along with Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and of course, Shah Rukh Khan.
