‘Showman’ director Rohit Shetty has confidently predicted that both Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan who play the romantic leads in his action-thriller movie ‘Simmba’ will emerge ‘superstars’ very soon. The modest, exuberant Sara who has been well-appreciated for her sensitive performance in her debut flick ‘Kedarnath’ refuses to get carried away.
“This is just my take-off and I still have a long career climb and flight-journey ahead. So I refuse to be complacent. Besides my mom (Amrita Singh) who cried after watching my intense scenes, even my dad shared with the media, that I was much better than him than what he was in his debut movie. But the most heartening thing was, that my Daadi (the iconic legend Sharmila Tagore) messaged my mom, appreciating my work. It felt so euphoric,” smiles Sara who has no ‘hang-ups’ in admitting that “I am a die-hard fan of versatile Sridevi-ji and Shabana-ji Azmi”.
On being quizzed as to why her former lead actress mom Amrita (Dingy) Singh does ‘not’ accompany her to film events, she nonchalantly justifies. “There is no need to be chaperoned. My caring mom is always there to guide me before I leave home on my lip-stick shades, my hair etc. Had I become a doctor or a lawyer, would my mom accompany me every time to the hospital or the court,” she counters with a shrug.
