If the glimpses of the authentic earth-shattering performances in the trailer, serve as an indication to go by, then historical realistic movie ''Sarbjit'' is bound to fetch maximum Awards next year for its protagonists, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda.
National award winning director, Omung Kumar, when asked as why he works with only ‘global beauty-queens’, was quick on the uptake. “Its sheer coincidence that I cast Priyanka in ''Mary Kom'' and now Aishwarya in ''Sarbjit''. Actually my drive-mission is, to totally transform a glamorous aura into a contrasting de-glam ‘avataar’ which has never been seen before. It also creates an intrigue with shock-value,” analyses Omung, whose movie heroine Aishwarya considers this movie offer as a “divine calling”.
Recalls the ravishing Aishwarya, “Some ten years ago, I had received a petition letter soliciting support for the release of Sarabjit by his valiant sister, Dalbir Kaur. The saga of the sibling commitment and her relentless crusade had already crossed my path. And then his body came back to India in a coffin. When Omung approached me with the offer, it was already a ‘yes’ from my side,” insists the Bachchan bahurani, who feels that shooting for her current movie was not exactly a pleasure.
“It was intense, disturbing and demanding. Possibly one of my ‘fastest films’ ever made, it seemed 48 hours a day but the entire crew was so dedicated. When I did briefly meet the real-life Dalbir, it was only after we started shooting. There is hardly any physical similarity between us. But I have interpreted the character complying with director Omung’s vision and minimal referencing by way of hands’ movement etc., as observed in visual news clips,” shrugs madame Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
